What are Sarah Peters Blocks?

Have you seen them? Sarah Peters Blocks are soft, washable, play blocks for children. These are made from extra quilt squares never used in quilts. Sarah Peters, a neighbor to my mother in law, made these squares by hand. She passed them to my mother in law when she down sized her home, more than 15 years ago. A year ago, my mother in law passed them to Home Spun hoping we could use them for one of our classes. Well, I washed them with high hopes of a great idea. There were not enough squares to make the obvious quilt, so it was going to have to be something  different. A year later, flipping through a magazine I spotted how to assemble fabric blocks and thought, Oh those are cute....the idea to use the quilt squares came later and I got to work. Karen and I are both very pleased and excited with the outcome. Sadly, within a week of completing  the blocks, Sarah Peters passed away. She never heard the story of what came of those quilting squares she passed on so long ago. We very easily decided the blocks would have her name.

Whew!

Whew! We finally started our blog. Now our high tech-computer whiz-" go to guy" Craig, can relax. Probably not, I think we just created more work for him. Karen and I like to stick to sewing and farming or lying on the beach.
